Who are Abzu Electronics?
Dan:
With a background in power network engineering and having spent the previous couple of years as Iration Steppas crew and building countless dubplates for sound systems such as Iration, Sinai and Rebel Spirit, Dan is the Lead Design Engineer at Abzu Electronics. Having realised the need for a preamp in the market which ticks all boxes of the sound system operator, Dan came up with the vision of building a preamp to rival all others by implementing a full DSP system. This forgoes the issues posed by full analogue equipment, prioritising flexibility, durability and impeccable sound quality.
Abzu Electronics are a team of three highly skilled and dedicated individuals with over 15 years of combined experience. The team are driven to deliver the best of the best when it comes to dub preamps and FX units. Below is an introduction to the guys:
Ed:
During the day Ed is a senior high speed electronic hardware design engineer who has worked on old and new designs through a number of sectors; from critical infrastructure to development and implementation of the latest high performing signal processing devices. By night he runs a small community sound system in Leeds, UK named Beet Roots, promoting diversity, inclusivity and roots music. He is at his best with a soldering iron in his hand and some bass rattling through the room. Ed joins the Abzu team in a consulting role to lend his hand at the challenging electronics and to muck in wherever else needed.
Will:
Upon completion of his PhD in neuroscience earlier this year, Will has since turned his attention to embedded systems design, working tirelessly to help design the DSP boards employed in Abzu preamp and FX units. Alongside this, he is the Lead Software Engineer behind Abzu’s DSP and peripheral digital architecture. Having run Abzu Sound System with Dan and built a plethora of dubplates Will is perfectly suited to the task at hand and revels in getting stuck into the nitty, gritty challenges involved in designing complex systems such as the Crossfire range of preamps.
